The most widely observed lncRNAs in human cancers were found to be HOTAIR, a lncRNA encoded in the HOXC gene that interacts with Polycomb Repressive Complex 2 (PRC2), a histone methyltransferase, for methylating and silencing various tumor suppressor genes [70,72]; MALAT1, which is involved in alternative splicing [73,74]; MEG3, a tumor suppressor that regulates cell proliferation through p53 dependent and independent pathways [75]; and H19, which induces cell survival pathways in response to stressful conditions [77]. Here, HOTAIR is linked to cancer.
