Wang et al. [129] compared the ileum miRNA expression profiles of control pigs with pigs susceptible or resistant to C. perfringens and identified Nuclear Factor of Activated T Cells 4 (NFATC4), ETS-Like Gene 1 (ELK1)/Heat Shock Protein Family A (Hsp70)/Member 2 (HSPA2)/Interleukin 7 Receptor (IL7R), and Cardiotrophin Like Cytokine Factor 1 (CLCF1) as target genes of miR-7134-5p, miR-500, and miR-92b-3p, respectively, in response to C. perfringen infection. The gene discussed is ELK1; the disease is infection due to clostridium perfringens.
