The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) members including EGFR, erb-b2 receptor tyrosine kinase 2 (ERBB2/HER2), ERBB3 and ERBB4, are overexpressed or activation-mutated in many types of cancers, especially in breast, ovarian and non-small cell lung cancers, which is associated with (radio- and chemotherapy) treatment resistance, metastasis, and poor prognosis [1,2]. The gene discussed is ERBB2; the disease is cancer.
