Interestingly, other studies in breast cancer revealed that YAP also regulates the glycolytic rate indirectly, by promoting the transcription of long non-coding Breast Cancer RNA Resistance to Antiestrogens 4 (BCAR4), which subsequently activates the Hedgehog effector GLI family zinc finger 2 (GLI2), to form a BCAR4/GLI2/p300 complex, which, through the acetylation of histones H3K27ac, induces HK2 and 6-phosphofrutto-2-kinase/fructose-2, 6-bisphosphatase 3 (PFKFB3) gene transcription [133]. The gene discussed is GLI2; the disease is breast cancer.
