To confirm results in the most common human prion disease and in order to determine the translational significance of Cyp46A1 reduction in prion-infected mice, post-mortem brain homogenates of four different healthy individuals (NBH: normal brain homogenates) and four different sporadic CJD patients (sCJD) (Fig. 2a) were analyzed by immunoblot for Cyp46A1 levels. This evidence concerns the gene CYP46A1 and sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.
