In a recent study, the transcriptional profiles from the blood and lungs of C57BL/6 mice were compared after infection with a variety of pathogens known to induce a full spectrum of T cell responses [42], and found that the magnitude of IFN-related signatures was particularly high in the blood of mice infected with Toxoplasma gondii when compared to infection by other microorganisms, and this IFN signature was predominately type II in the lungs [42].
