The secretion of GroEL is in accordance with the observation of its role in the production of IL-6 and TNF-α as described here and may associate the level of GroEL to leptospirosis severity due to the level of these cytokines and represent a potential clinical relevant marker of the disease as well as a potential lead target for leptospirosis therapy. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and leptospirosis.
