Other studies have identified hippocampal volume reductions in schizophrenia patients who harbor a familial SNP in the allele coding for the G-protein coupled receptor SREB2, and notably, SREB2 transgenic overexpression in animal models recapitulates schizophrenia-like behavioral and neurogenic deficits that can be reversed by deletion of SREB2 (ref. 77). This evidence concerns the gene GPR85 and schizophrenia.
