Increased TLR4, CD14 and MyD88 have previously been reported in human NEC intestinal samples, and the inhibition of these molecules with an anti-CD14 antibody, systemic mutation of TLR4, or systemic knock out of MyD88, significantly attenuates disease severity in NEC rodent models2,7,8. The gene discussed is MYD88; the disease is necrotizing enterocolitis.
