Thus, SPIOMET increased the GDF15 levels in adolescents with PCOS from low-normal (0.2–0.4 ng/mL) into high-normal range (0.8–1.2 ng/mL); it reduced liver steatosis, insulin resistance and low-grade inflammation, and raised adiponectinaemia, without causing anorexia or a loss of body weight. Here, GDF15 is linked to polycystic ovary syndrome.
