Intratracheal bleomycin induced ALI reproduces many features of ARDS, including neutrophil infiltration and increased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-1R1, keratinocyte chemoattractant (KC), tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-A at the early inflammatory stage (Matute-Bello et al., 2008; Williamson et al., 2015). The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is acute respiratory distress syndrome.
