EGF and neoplasm: We have chosen the KRAS mutated A549 lung adenocarcinoma cell line for investigating how two growth factors, transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) and epidermal growth factor (EGF), which each play fundamental roles in tumor development but activate clearly distinct signaling pathways (Yarden and Sliwkowski, 2001; Schmierer and Hill, 2007), stimulate migration and invasion individually and when acting together.
