In China, about 23% of hypertensive COVID-19 patients were reported with 6% case fatality rate (Ma et al., 2020) and hypotensors, especially ACE2 inhibitors, and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), were frequently used to control the levels of blood pressure, which also upregulated the expression of ACE2 receptor and leaded to increasing susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infection (Fang et al., 2020b). The gene discussed is ACE2; the disease is COVID-19.
