Intervention of NLRP3-dependent immunosuppressive pathway may be a potential therapeutic strategy to enhance host resistance to melanoma metastasis.218 In 2020, Okamoto et al. found that human melanoma cells spontaneously secreted active IL-1β through the structural activation of NLRP3 inflammasome, thus showing the characteristics of autologous inflammatory diseases.219 Interestingly, NLRP3 can also destroy the effect of anti-tumor vaccine. This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and melanoma.
