SLC15A4 and Miyoshi myopathy: In the context of a potential oncogenic role for this gene, a recent genome-wide methylation study in MM has demonstrated that DNA hypermethylation is more likely to be associated with intronic enhancers than gene promoters and correlated with reduced enhancer activity and downregulation of their associated genes, e.g. SLC15A4, PVT1, and NCOR227.
