Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) is a rare, autosomal recessive disorder (OMIM 264800) linked to mutations occurring in the ATP-Binding Cassette sub-family C member 6 (ABCC6) gene (Bergen et al., 2000; Le Saux et al., 2000; Ringpfeil et al., 2000).
