In accordance with clinical and histopathological signs, the colons of analogue 5-treated mice with DSS-induced colitis showed reduced levels of inflammatory cytokines (TNFα, IFNγ, IL6, IL1β and IL17) and the chemokine macrophage inflammatory protein-2 (MIP-2), and increased levels of the anti-inflammatory/regulatory cytokine IL10, in comparison with untreated animals (Fig. 3c).
