Decreased protein levels of hCD33M was observed by Western blot and flow cytometry on peripheral blood monocytes and monocyte-derived microglia like cells [7, 44] as well as leukemic blasts from acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients [42] homozygous for the AD-protective CD33 SNP (rs3865444A/rs12459419T) compared to cells homozygous for the corresponding AD-susceptible CD33 SNP. Here, CD33 is linked to acute myeloid leukemia.
