Consistent with our results, in a recent Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort (CRIC) study that assessed the association between common inflammatory biomarkers (hsCRP, fibrinogen, TNF- α, and IL-6) and AF, only plasma IL-6 level was significantly associated with both the presence of AF at baseline and new-onset of AF in chronic kidney disease patients [35]. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is atrial fibrillation.
