The main pathological feature of PD is the loss of dopaminergic neurons in Substantia Nigra compacta (SNc) and their projections to Striatum (STR), accompanying with the accumulation of misfolded α-synuclein (α-syn) in Lewy bodies and Lewy neurites, which result in the motor symptoms: bradykinesia, rigidity and resting tremor [6]. Here, SNCA is linked to Parkinson disease.
