Of our population based study group of 125 women who underwent genetic testing (presenting with cancer between 1980 and 1997), there were PVs in BRCA1=23 (18.4%), BRCA2=11 (8.8%), TP53=5 (4%) and BRIP1=1,12 13 demonstrating a very similar overall detection rate. The gene discussed is BRCA2; the disease is cancer.
