In both post-traumatic stress disorder and bipolar disorder, rs6265 is a locus for trauma-induced epigenetic regulation, which alters expression to reduce BDNF production, and is thus a contributor to the onset of both illnesses through the mediation of the neurotrophic receptor tyrosine kinase 2 (NTRK2) [46–48]. This evidence concerns the gene BDNF and post-traumatic stress disorder.
