The functions of hBERAs in the control of apoptosis, proliferation and invasiveness were contributed at least partially to the downregulation of a number of cancer-related genes such as BCL2, SIRT1 and c-MET by bioengineered miR-34a-5p, and MCT1, STAT3, and VAMP3 by recombinant htRNALeu/miR-124-3p, in line with previous findings on the control of target gene expression in cancer cells by genome-derived miR-34a-5p 35, 36 and miR-124-3p 7, 8. This evidence concerns the gene MET and cancer.
