Previous studies have shown that Cyr61 endows malignant cells with resistance to chemotherapy by regulating Bcl-2 family molecule expression via the NF-κB 9-10, ERK1/2 19, and PI3K-AKT 21 signaling pathways; thus, we speculated that the Cyr61-induced increase in the Bcl-XL level may be related to the NF-κB, ERK1/2, and PI3K-AKT signaling pathways in CRC cells. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
