It has been consistently reported that knockdown of CERS1 significantly protected HNSCC cells from chemotherapeutic agents, including gemcitabine, doxorubicin, and cisplatin, induced apoptosis.14,15 In response to cisplatin, CERS1 localized to mitochondria and induced mitophagy to promote cell death.15 This evidence concerns the gene CERS1 and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
