While little is known about the ZBTB8 gene, the same ZBTB family protein, ZBTB7A, has been implicated in high expression in cancer tissue and the breast cancer cell lines MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 [30], suggesting that ZBTB8 may act as a transcriptional repressor or be involved in tumorigenesis. Here, ZBTB7A is linked to breast carcinoma.
