GFAP and Alzheimer disease: To understand the regional distribution of fibrillar Aβ deposits in relation to astro- and microgliosis, we determined the binding of 3H-florbetaben/3H-PIB, 3H-L-deprenyl, and 3H-PK11195/3H-FEMPA in autopsy brain tissues from AD and control cases by using homogenate binding assays, autoradiography, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for astrocyte marker glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP).
