More recently, in a similar rat model, Chen et al. demonstrated that miR-155-5p inhibition of S1PR1 and SOCS1 genes, respectively, encoding for sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 1 and suppressor of cytokine signaling 1, abolished the autoimmunity and rheumatoid effects of streptococcal infection (89). The gene discussed is SOCS1; the disease is streptococcal infection.
