ANGPTL2 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency: Previous studies have reported that ANGPTL2 plays an essential role in insulin resistance and adipose inflammation by acting on endothelial cells and monocytes/macrophages via integrin signaling.[13, 15, 16, 53] ANGPTL2 also appears to promote obesity since ANGPTL2 KO mice fail to develop HFD‐induced obesity; however, it remains unclear how ANGPTL2 links adipose inflammation to obesity and whether ANGPTL2 acts directly on adipocytes given that integrin is expressed at low levels in these cells.
