Similar to sinusoidal capillarization in liver fibrosis and cirrhosis, transdifferentiation of the sinusoidal vasculature is observed in human and murine HCC with loss of LSEC markers STAB1, STAB2, LYVE-1, CD32b, and GPR182 and induction of the continuous EC marker CD31 [143, 144]. The gene discussed is STAB2; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
