Gene fusions between the Ewing sarcoma breakpoint region 1 gene (EWSR1) and members of the cAMP response element binding (CREB) family, which include CREB1, CREM, and ATF1, are not unique to this neoplasm as they have been identified in multiple other tumors including clear cell sarcoma of the gastrointestinal tract, hyalinizing clear cell sarcoma of the salivary gland, primary pulmonary myxoid sarcoma, and angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma. This evidence concerns the gene EWSR1 and histiocytoma, Angiomatoid fibrous.
