Arginine vasopressin (AVP) plays a crucial role in the regulation of the HPA axis in cooperation with corticotropin‐releasing factor (CRF), and excess AVP is hypothesized to be responsible for HPA axis dysfunction in depression (de Winter et al., 2003; Purba, Hoogendijk, Hofman, & Swaab, 1996). The gene discussed is AVP; the disease is depressive symptom measurement.
