OLR1 and endothelial dysfunction: In contrast, recent studies have shown decreased serum levels of endocan (a marker of endothelial dysfunction) (Celik et al., 2015), and lectin-like oxidized Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor-1 (LOX-1, a proatherogenic substance that is expressed in endothelial cells under proatherogenic conditions) (Halac et al., 2016) in patients diagnosed with iRLS compared with control groups, suggesting that iRLS patients show decreased risk for atherosclerosis and endothelial dysfunction.
