The decreased reported risk of death associated with the two strongest CYP2D6 inhibitor antidepressants, fluoxetine and paroxetine, currently recommended by 2017 VA/DoD PTSD guidelines to treat PTSD casts doubt on the hypothesis that MDMA co-administration with a CYP2D6 inhibitor is responsible for the increased risk of death with these four antidepressants. Here, CYP2D6 is linked to post-traumatic stress disorder.
