There are a growing number of examples where the immune system undergoes complex temporal oscillations, some well-known such as periodic fevers during malarial infection, familial Mediterranean fever, cyclic neutropenia, and other less known examples including oscillations in the levels of NFκB [22], HeS1 [23], and the tumor suppressor protein p53 [24]. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and familial Mediterranean fever.
