Of note, a recent study has demonstrated that among diverse lymphocyte subsets including NK cells, T cells, Tregs, and iNKT cells, only γδT cell phenotype (activated/exhausted TIGIT+PD-1+ phenotype associated with plasma pro-inflammatory profile) could distinguish inflammaging in aviremic HIV infected individuals from HIV-negative younger and older individuals (50), implicating γδT cells as the key inflammatory driver in cART-suppressed HIV infection. Here, TIGIT is linked to HIV infectious disease.
