CD274 and neoplasm: Examples of immunoediting are the loss of tumor-associated antigen (TAA) presentation or downregulation of PD-L1 driven by epigenetic changes on cancer cells and abrogated IFNγ—a key regulator of antigen process and presentation—delivered by tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) in the TME (166–169), which can lead to incomplete elimination and persistence of adapted tumors becoming clinically evident (169).
