Figure 4D shows the network, which was constructed by 59 blood-secretory proteins (red nodes) input as candidate proteins and 15 proteins known related to autism pathology (blue nodes) provided as targeted proteins. From the network, we found that most of these blood-secretory proteins were connected with the targeted proteins except SLITRK5, TPK1, SLC25A27, DHX35, DPP8, TTC13, TUBGCP5, FTO, and TRMT11. Interestingly, String database analysis showed that 43 proteins might be associated with alternative splicing (Figure 4E). The gene discussed is DHX35; the disease is autism.
