TRIM28, a member of the tripartite motif-containing proteins (TRIM) family, is reported to act as an E3 ubiquitin ligase which can form MAGE-C2-TRIM28 and MAGE-A3/6-TRIM28 E3 ligase complexes in cancer to respectively target p53 and AMPK for degradation in a proteasome-dependent way [17, 18]. The gene discussed is TRAT1; the disease is cancer.
