The activation or repression of these targets by SALL2 in ovarian cancer cells (Li et al., 2004; Gu et al., 2011; Sung et al., 2012), and mouse embryonic fibroblasts (Escobar et al., 2015; Hermosilla et al., 2017, 2018), associate SALL2 with a tumor suppressor function.
