PYGL and injury: Neutrophil degranulation, a common feature of many inflammatory disorders, including severe asphyxia in asthma, acute lung injury, rheumatoid arthritis, and septic shock (32), was associated with Endotype A. The gene encoding a protein from the neutrophil degranulation pathway, glycogen phosphorylase L (PYGL), was one of the top 20 most significantly DE genes between the endotypes (p-value = 1.85 × 10−07, mean fold change of genes in pathway = 2.17).
