Many studies have highlighted the prominent role of the NLRP3 inflammasome and cytokines of the interleukin-1 family in NAFLD and NASH (Thomas, 2017), thus inhibition of inflammasomes, or IL-1β signaling is an intriguing target in NASH (Kamari et al., 2011; Mridha et al., 2017; Tilg et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
