Additionally, as the tau measure employed in this study is a convolute of highly AD-specific hyperphosphorylated tau and other forms of tau that are also associated with other neurological disorders (Blennow et al., 2001; Skillbäck et al., 2015), their differential effects on SNE are of interest for the potential of SNE to act as a resilience factor at neuropathologically more advanced stages of AD.
