MAPT and Alzheimer disease: In clinical practice, the pathological changes occurring in AD can be detected by the use of biomarkers in different modalities, among which the evaluation on CSF (i.e., Tau and Aβ biomarkers) is less accessible but presents lower intrinsic protease activity than blood and reflects brain changes, helping to diagnose AD pathology in both the prodromal and the dementia stages (Lashley et al., 2018).
