Frost et al., by using Drosophila as a model to understand the relationship between epigenetics and tau-induced neurodegeneration [15], have found that a loss of condensation of heterochromatin and a depletion of piRNAs could cause transposable element dysregulation, which is a driver for tauopathy neurodegeneration in Drosophila [15]. This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and tauopathy.
