TP53 and cancer: Since mutations in the p53 gene have an enormous impact on cancer development, great efforts are being made into the mechanisms that can counteract this effect and are brought together in several extensive reviews (213, 214) that compile different experimental approaches to target p53 in human cancer: inhibition of mutant p53 by promoting its protein degradation, restoration of the wildlife activity of mutant p53, and immune stimulation against p53 activity.
