A large group of cytokines has been recognized as significantly increased in severe COVID-19 patients: interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-1RA, IL-2, IL-6, IL-7, IL-8 (CXCL8), IL-9, IL-10, IL-17, IL-18, tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma), granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF), granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), macrophage inflammatory protein 1 (MIP-1alpha/CCL3), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1/CCL2), interferon gamma-induced protein 10 (IP-10/CXCL10), and fibroblast growth factor (FGF) (16–18). This evidence concerns the gene CSF2 and COVID-19.
