ICAM1 and breast cancer: Although in vitro studies have shown that neutrophils adhere to melanoma cells via β2 integrin–ICAM-1 interactions (217), our recent findings have excluded ICAM-1, -2 or -3 as essential ligands for β2 integrin during neutrophil adhesion and cytotoxic activity in the case of breast cancer cells (218), indicating that the neutrophil interactions with different cell targets may vary in the use of counter/receptors or ligands.
