We also analyzed the effects of combinations of the 8 CCR5 promoter SNPs (rs2227010, rs2856758, rs2734648, rs1799987, rs1799988, rs41469351, rs1800023, rs1800024) on TB susceptibility and found that haplotype H1 (A-A-T-G-T-C-G-C)—constructed using the major alleles of the eight SNPs—was significantly associated with resistance to PTB; and haplotype H5 (A-A-G-G-T-C-G-C) increased the susceptibility to PTB by over 20-times. The gene discussed is CCR5; the disease is tuberculosis.
