Among mice with pilocarpine-induced epilepsy, IDO1−/− mice showed significantly more surviving neurons than WT mice (Figures 5B–D, 6A–D, genotype × treatment interaction in Nissl staining: F(1,8) = 16.37, P = 0.0037, for CA1; F(1,8) = 6.752, P = 0.0317, for CA3; genotype × treatment interaction in NeuN immunostaining: F(1,8) = 8.028, P = 0.0220, for CA1; F(1,8) = 11.19, P = 0.0102, for CA3).
